Facelifted Genesis GV70 Electrified Inbound with huge dashboard screen and minor styling updates

Revisions to the EV duplicate those already announced for the ICE GV70 and include a combined 27-inch gauge cluster and multimedia screen, as well as new lights and bumpers

Spy photographers have captured images of the Genesis GV70 Electrified testing facelifts in Europe.

The EV version of the crossover receives the same updates already confirmed for the ICE GV70 in April.

Changes include new lights and bumpers and a wide 27-inch digital display.

Genesis has been raising our pulses recently with the teased introduction of its Magma performance sub-brand, but that’s not all the company is working on. It’s also in the process of updating its existing luxury-focused lineup, including the GV70 Electrified seen here.

Or it doesn’t show here, because as usual for any Hyundai Group prototype, this test car is hidden under a mountain of black nylon camouflage, with various foam blocks added underneath to keep its secrets intact until launch time. .

Which is kind of pointless, because we already know 95 percent of what’s under the hood. Genesis itself tipped us off back in April when it revealed the facelifted version of the internal combustion GV70.

This car got some subtle exterior updates, including, at the front, a new set of headlights flanking a modified grille and a restyled bumper with larger air intakes. The styling changes at the rear are less obvious, but the turn signals are now integrated into the taillights and the Genesis design team has come up with some new alloy wheels.

But the Electrified EV will again get a different grille, one that will be blacked out because it doesn’t have the cooling requirements of the ICE versions, although the part that comes out of the disguise on this prototype shows that it will still sport a Genesis cross – hatch plan.

The biggest changes coming to the Electrified take place inside the cabin, where, judging by what we’ve seen in the ICE model, Genesis has placed a combined 27-inch gauge cluster and infotainment screen that stretches nearly two-thirds of the way. the car.

Touch buttons on the console control the climate settings and there’s a new steering wheel – flat-bottomed on cars with the Sport package, which also gets a rear diffuser, dark-coloured tailpipes, new 21-inch wheels and a unique grille design. Genesis doesn’t currently offer a sport trim on the GV70 Electrified in the US, but given the brand’s new focus on performance, we’re guessing that could change.

Hopefully Genesis will also make some changes under the hood to improve the current EV’s poor range. The EPA rates the 483 hp (490 PS) twin-engine GV70 at just 236 miles (380 km), but improving that much will mean upgrading the 77.4 kWh battery for something bigger. The refreshed G80 Electrified sedan recently received a battery boost from 87.2 to 95.4 kWh, so there’s hope.

Although Genesis revealed the facelifted GV70 in April and put it on sale in Korea the following month, the revised combustion crossover won’t appear in the US until 2025 as the MY26. We suspect the EV will make its global debut in the next couple of months and arrive in North America around the same time as the ICE car.
